During the last decade Europe's borders have expanded, but did its values change accordingly? One pending question is if current European value base provides a solid ground for building Europe whole and free beyond its traditional borders?

Euro-Atlantic Policies towards New European Nations – Closer Integration or Partnerships?
Venue: Small Guild, Big Hall

So called New European nations are not new, but are rather deeply embedded into common European historical heritage. Nations of the Eastern Europe and Caucasus started to think about their return to historic origins. At the same time their current status of the EU Neighbours as defined by the Union might sound out of tune with a modern concept of Europe whole and free. Does the NATO have right policy response when new European nations might feel unsafe or uncomfortable? Will the European Union sustain closer integration process or it will strive for different limited partnerships to be established with these aspiring countries. Some European politicians argue about defining boundaries of the European Union. The question is whether policy response of the EU and NATO is well tuned with concept of Europe whole and free. Right now all Western and Eastern Europeans stand at the historic crossroads.

European Energy Independence at the Crossroads: Unified Policy Solutions?
Venue: Small Guild, Big Hall

Europe is consuming more and more energy crucial for European wealth and competitiveness with the United States and emerging Asian power houses in future. The European Union lacks capability in creating unified policy framework regulating supply and demand relations with energy providers. Europe risks of becoming energy dependent from energy providers which are undemocratic, anti-free market and manipulating economic resources for a political end. Central and Eastern Europe together with Caucasus increasingly becomes a play ground where economic interests clashes, particularly in energy supply and distribution.
